Prior to the official opening of the Cañada de la Virgen archaeological site in 2011, the Mayordomía of this Pre-Hispanic Ceremonial Center was founded as a strategy of social bonding between the native peoples of San Miguel de Allende and this emblematic space of Northern Mesoamerica.
The first event organized by the Mayordomía of Cañada de la Virgen Ceremonial Center was the blessing of each of the buildings that make up the Mesoamerican site.
The Mayordomía of Cañada de la Virgen Ceremonial Center was originally constituted by four mayordomos, of which currently remain Federico Tapia from San Isidro de la Cañada and Jesus Pastor from Peña Blanca. Both were sponsored by the Mayordomías of El Valle del Maíz, Charco del Ingenio, Alonso Yáñez, Cruz del Palmar, as well as the Danza de Conquista de la Palabra del Jefe General Manuel Rodríguez de Querétaro – inheritance of the late Pancho Medina.
