On October 4, 2010, at the Cañada de la Virgen Pre-Hispanic Ceremonial Center, the Cañada de la Virgen Stewardship was formally constituted.
Since the beginning of the colonization process in the territory now occupied by the Municipality of San Miguel de Allende, the mayordomías were constituted as a system of social organization in which even today the crosses and saints weave the reconfiguration of sacred space, maintain bonds of loyalty and camaraderie, procure union and conformity among the network of communities, perpetuate syncretized forms of devotion between the pre-Hispanic and Catholicism, and foster principles of conduct that are transmitted from one generation to the next through ceremonial practice.
In this context, the stewardship of Cañada de la Virgen has, since its foundation, followed the same path of dignifying the territoriality of the native peoples and establishing a space of social appropriation of the archaeological site, according to the local tradition.
